The Community Upgrade Challenge is a new initiative to foster community and environmental improvement projects with 16 -25 year old’s in the North East and West Midlands.
Funding is from the Foyer Federation and the SITA Trust. The aim is to coach 26 teams of young people to deliver real transformation in their area.
This new funding with an environmental focus is to be welcomed. Perhaps then as an idea there may be opportunities to make it go further if it could be linked with the Heritage Lottery Fund’s Young Roots grant programme for young people of a similar age and even the forthcoming Big Lottery Fund’s Our Environment Our Future which, when up and running, will provide opportunities for young people to shape their environment and acquire new skills.
Just a thought on joined up funding! As always if you need any help in working up ideas please get in contact with me.
