What people say
Cambridgeshire ACRE needed a range of images to show rural communities in action. Pete fully understood the brief and managed to gain many varied shots that have been used in our newly designed publication Community Action and on our website. We also needed some Fenland landscape shots to help interpret our HLF Landscape Partnership Scheme’s unique landscape. Pete’s consultancy ‘PJ.elements’ will be of great value to any organisation that needs to bring their work to life.
Pete’s expertise and enthusiasm has been very useful to further CambridgePPF’s desire to provide quality green spaces in and around Cambridge. PJ elements’ recent scoping study provided us with well researched thoughts and ideas as well as solutions to better manage our Wandlebury Country Park.
With support from Natural England, Autism and Nature commissioned Pete to help us develop a business case for a large, multi-partner project proposal. Although the topic – engaging autistic children with the natural environment – was a new area for Pete, we were impressed by how quickly he was able to grasp the key issues, and we appreciated his help to develop a sound business case. Pete also made a number of contacts with potential funders, which we are now actively following up.
Pete, thank you for the work you have done on the potential sources of funding for EuCAN. We have read your report and are impressed by the thoroughness of analysis and research. We agree with your recommendations about developing a business plan and raising funds for specific projects and thanks for the European contacts you have provided. All in all a great piece of work and gives us something to work with.
The advice you gave us on developing the funding strategy has certainly helped our confidence in applying for funding and we have made efforts to raise our profile with funding bodies and the public.
I found Pete’s sector knowledge and understanding of underlying issues both in the business and environment to be extremely helpful in assessing a recent bid the Green Light Trust made to a large corporate body. His expertise will come in very useful for the future.
Pete Johnstone is a real fighter. Dogged and persistent, he gets under the skin of a problem, or challenge, and doesn’t let go. During his time working on the 2020VISION multimedia project, he was diligent, resourceful and always, always professional.
Pete, thank you for your excellent work on developing our first strategic development plan for the NFPGS as funded by Esmée Fairbairn Foundation. Your work has helped us broaden our view on potential funding opportunities and has helped us with our longer term thinking with the future of the Federation.

Pete has carried out a number of photographic assignments for the Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire – both people and wildlife focused. He is very thorough in his preparation for a job asking insightful questions that help to shape the brief. He provides a great service supplying a selection of great images in record time.
His real strength is getting the best out of the subjects – whether capturing wildflowers in the early morning light or working with people.
