Now here is a new grant from Big Lottery Fund worth celebrating… The Celebrate grant fund is all about bringing people together in your local community to celebrate something special.
Grants for community oriented activities are few and far between at the moment so this fund is to be especially welcomed, though I am not quite sure why the different home nations have differing grant amounts, but no doubt BIG have their reasons. For example, in England it is up to £10,000, Scotland, £5,000 and in Wales £2,000.
It is good to see that the local environment is recognised and that it too can be celebrated though bringing people closer together.
However, strengthening communities is probably going to be the key to any successful application along with saying why you want to have a local celebration, what evidence you have to say people want to ‘celebrate’ and what you expect the outcome to be.
I would be keen to hear of how people get on in their applications, particularly where you use the local environment or heritage as part of the application.
And when applying don’t forget to read the small print and what is fundable and what is not!
